چکیده

We introduce the following general question: Let V be a complex n-dimensional space and for m k consider the GL V -module V n m k V m defined by V n m k f v vm V m dimSpanfv vmg k g We would like to determine dimV n m k for any choice of n m k. This question appears in various disguises in computer vision problems where the constraints of a multi-linear problem occupy a lowdimensional subspace. We discuss two such problems: analysis of constraints in single view indexing functions (the 8-point shape tensor), and the analysis of the constraints in dynamic P n P alignments, i.e., where the point sets are allowed to move within a k-dimensional subspace while the n-dimensional space is being multiply projected (multiple views) onto copies of the m-dimensional space. We then derive the solution to the general problem using tools from representation theory.

Second-Order Statistical Texture Representation of Asphalt Pavement Distress Images Based on Local Binary Pattern in Spatial and Wavelet Domain

Assessment of pavement distresses is one of the important parts of pavement management systems to adopt the most effective road maintenance strategy. In the last decade, extensive studies have been done to develop automated systems for pavement distress processing based on machine vision techniques. One of the most important structural components of computer vision is the feature extraction met...

Robot Motion Vision Pait I: Theory

A direct method called fixation is introduced for solving the general motion vision problem, arbitrary motion relative to an arbitrary environment. This method results in a linear constraint equation which explicitly expresses the rotational velocity in terms of the translational velocity. The combination of this constraint equation with the Brightness-Change Constraint Equation solves the gene...

Two New Methods of Boundary Correction for Classifying Textural Images

With the growth of technology, supervising systems are increasingly replacing humans in military, transportation, medical, spatial, and other industries. Among these systems are machine vision systems which are based on image processing and analysis. One of the important tasks of image processing is classification of images into desirable categories for the identification of objects or their sp...

3D Hand Motion Evaluation Using HMM

Gesture and motion recognition are needed for a variety of applications. The use of human hand motions as a natural interface tool has motivated researchers to conduct research in the modeling, analysis and recognition of various hand movements. In particular, human-computer intelligent interaction has been a focus of research in vision-based gesture recognition. In this work, we introduce a 3-...

Robot Motion Vision Part II: Implementation

The idea of Fixation introduced a direct method for general recovery of shape and motion from images without using either feature correspondence or optical flow [1,2]. There are some parameters which have important effects on the performance of fixation method. However, the theory of fixation does not say anything about the autonomous and correct choice of those parameters. This paper presents ...

Fuzzy Sets in Computer Vision: an Overview

Every computer vision level crawl with uncertainty, what makes its management a significant problem to be considered and solved when trying for automated systems for scene analysis and interpretation. This is why fuzzy set theory and fuzzy logic is making many inroads into the handling of uncertainty in various aspects of image processing and computer vision. The growth within the use of fuzzy ...
